Accomodation
Your
hosts, Fanus and Jennifer Greyling, will accommodate you in
their serenely isolated stone lodge, where you can experience
nature literally on your doorstep. The lodge has all the comforts
of home, and each room has en suite bathrooms. Not
to disturb the tranquil and serene ambience, we refuse to
put in electricity. Water is heated by gas, and light supplied
by lanterns and previously charged battery lights. The
characteristic lodge is built from stone with walls three
feet thick, and large parts of it date back to the late eighteenth
century. Consequently an intriguing history and tales evolved
around this special place, not the least being the effect
the discovery of diamonds and the Anglo Boer War had on the
history of South Africa. We are right amidst everything. Various
day trips can be arranged for non-hunters, or hunters choosing
a day of rest.
Jennifer’s
standards of attention to detail and food would be the pride
of many fine hotels. Many dishes will involve the the use
of game.
Or you can be accommodated on the Rovos Rail, the most luxurious
train in the world, should you wish to book one of our tailor
made Train Shooting Safaris in Edwardian luxury. On these
trips the Rovos Rail is chartered for your exclusive use,
and we use it as a mobile shooting lodge. To get a better
idea of the pampered luxury you will encounter, visit their
web site at www.rovos.co.za.

When pursuing sandgrouse and desert antelope, you can be
accommodated in the five star luxury of Tswalu Private Desert
Reserve, one of the areas where Fanus holds the sandgrouse
shooting rights. Owned by the Oppenheimer family, this is
one of the most luxurious lodges Africa has to offer. Visit
their web site at www.tswalu.com.
